As part of the ‘Dubai Calligraphy Biennale’, we bring you a vibrant showcase of exhibitions across DIFC; an exhibition titled ‘Calligraphy Redefined: A Perspective in Play’, featuring 20+ pieces by 11 artists from around the world, through which they highlight the transformations of calligraphy and its ability to transcend traditional forms of writing styles, and a solo exhibition titled ‘Twisted Perception’ by artist Ghalebhawila, which aims to bridge the gap between the past and the future, showcasing the timelessness and versatility of calligraphy as an art form.

Complexity
Hamid Toulei Fard
Size: 100 x 100 cm
Each line and every letter symbolizes the
thorny paths and intricacies of life.
However, amidst these challenges, the
serenity and profound meaning of the
word “Hu” symbolize the potential for
finding inner peace. This artwork aims to
remind us that, while trying to comprehend
the complexities of life, the path to inner
tranquility is, in fact, sometimes as simple
as taking a step back and pausing for a
moment of reflection.
Coded Sanctity
Orkhan Mammadov
“Coded Sanctity” is a collection that
traverses time, resonating with the
wisdom enscribed in the antique scripts
and illuminating manuscripts of Arabic
calligraphy. This AI-incarnated series
interweaves the aesthetic richness of
calligraphic art found in ancient
manuscripts, intricate patterns adorning
sacred architectures, and the eloquent
dance of inked letters across various
mediums.
Deep Ocean
Ismail Abdul Rahman
Size: 200×200 cm
“Deep Ocean Layers” is
an abstract 3D Arabic calligraphy
masterpiece that brilliantly captures the
essence of Arabic script in a futuristic and
universal manner. This artwork features a
stunning composition of random Arabic
calligraphy letters and strokes arranged in
several concentric circular layers, radiating
from the center of the canvas.
Wings of Wisdom
Azza Al Qubaisi
Size: 199 x 30 x 100 cm
This pieces is part
of the series that captures the identity
through the aspect of the movement of
the falcon and the houbara through the
spirals twists created in each piece.
Celebrating Emirati culture through the
negative and positive space created by the
metal. This a traditional sculpture
showcasing carved falcon wings, made up
of Arabic letters in a Dewani font to reflect
Emirati Culture.
Letters Collection
Amir Hossein Jabbari

The design and implementation of this
collection began in 2018. In this collection,
the calligraphy forms that have been
handed down to us as a legacy from the
past , show themselves with integrated
forms, and with different colors and
textures for display in modern formats.
Some parts of the final Artwork in this
collection are not designed in advance and
random shapes are created on the work
surfaces.
Echo ‘Life Sonata’

‘’Echo’’ questions the notion of existence.
It only takes two letters “Kaf” and Nun” to
form he word “to be”. But existence is a
kind of echo in perpetual movement and
constant transformation, through trials and
evolution, time and space, the past and
experience, actions and interactions
